Introducing the Franky Villani Pro Collection

Introducing the Franky Villani Pro Collection

STORIES| 21.10.2021

Franky Villani is undoubtedly one of the most exciting skaters in the business, both on and especially off the board.

Franky’s video parts are jam-packed with an eclectic mix of hammers and head-scratchers. Go check his “Welcome to Dickies” part. His other obsessions are illustration and 80s horror films and merchandise. His horror collection spans horror action figures, masks and movies. He loves it!

It was only fitting that we honored Franky’s achievements and personality with a pro collection that embodies the man himself. Franky wanted to create a versatile and hardwearing collection that you could wear all the time and that stands up to the test of skating, so that's what we did. The collection features a dark color palette emblazoned with Franky’s horror-inspired artwork.

To mark this momentous occasion, we caught up with the man of the moment: Franky Villani.

Hi Franky, thanks for taking the time to catch up with us. Let's kick things off at the start, when did you start skating and why?

I started skating when I was around 11/10 years old. I grew up next to a skatepark and would skate with a nearby neighbour and just kept at it I guess, no real reason.

Congratulations on your Dickies’ Pro collection, that’s massive! What does it mean for you to be on the team and have your own collection?

It means a lot to be on the same team as a lot of my favorite skateboarders. It’s honestly a bit stressful having a collection just because you want it to be the best it can be and you want people to like it, but I’m excited to see what people think of it when it comes out.

What’s your favorite piece in the collection?

My favorite piece is the cord Double Knee Work Pants, I really am happy how they came out.

We love watching you skate, you never cease to surprise and amaze us with your unique style and bag of tricks. How have you developed this over the years?

I don’t know. I think I just like a lot of different types of skating and I guess it influences how I look at skating.

What’s been your favorite line or trick that you’ve ever filmed?

Maybe the green kink rail I grinded in “encore”, always wanted to grind a long rail like that so I’m hyped it worked out.

Gnarliest slam?

Hit my tailbone on a rail. It was horrible. pain for like a month and it still hurts when I get up after sitting on hard ground.

What gets you pumped to skate?

Lately I’ve been watching John Cardiel in Cash Money Vagrant. That's been getting me pretty stoked lately.

We know that you’re big into your horror films and merchandise, how did you get into that and what are your top three horror related items?

I’ve always liked skeletons and stuff like that but once I convinced my mom to buy me a creepshow DVD for $5 at walmart I have loved them ever since. I dunno about 3 items but these are my favourite horror VHS tapes I own.

What’s next for you?

I Have a trip coming up to skate Oregon/SF to film for this collection clip we’re going to have. But besides that not much, all work and no play makes Jack a Dull Boy.
