HARD WORK RUNS IN THE FAMILY
We know the love, sweat and tears that go into running a family business. We've seen what’s possible when you start from nothing, hone the skills, live the struggle and lay the groundwork for future generations. For 100 years, we've watched you build a legacy in our clothes. And we'll be there when you pass it on.

THE STEAM ROOM
Haggerston London
Fran, Tony and Papa Chung run this unique dry cleaners.
This multigenerational business was originally a Chinese takeaway run by Papa Chung and his wife.
Having arrived from Hong Kong in 1979, they quickly set up shop on East London's Kingsland Road. After decades in the trade, Papa Chung retired, and his son Tony took over the premises. Following his father's advice to transform the business, he launched The Steam Room in 2004. Every morning since, husband and wife duo Tony and Fran have shared their knowledge to help clients care for their clothes sustainably. They’ve even taken the Steam Room concept further and turned the fully-functioning laundrette into a lifestyle space that showcases exhibitions by artists and customer pop ups.

Tevfik, Ali and Erkin Kamil run this North London cobblers.
The London shop was first owned by their grandfather, who arrived as a refugee from Northern Cyprus in the late 1970s.
He set up shop in Newington Green and trained the brothers' dad over the following decades. These shoe repair and key-cutting skills were then passed on again to his three sons. Having lost their father and grandfather recently, Tevfik, Erkin and Ali are eager to build on the heritage gifted to them. They want to expand on the customer base built over the past 40 years to keep the link with their father alive.
