For a century Dickies’ workwear has grown, to become a much-loved staple of any serious professional or committed amateur's workwear wardrobe. It’s trusted, it lasts, it looks great.

Unless you made a wrong click somewhere you’re here because you have an interest in the workwear world too. Allow us to share a few reasons why we’ve managed to appeal to and retain such a loyal following of workers. From our history to our constant evolution. From the backing of millions to the fact you’ll look great in our gear. Read on to discover how our apparel has become a workwear wardrobe staple.

Confidence in History

We’ve been leading the way in workwear apparel that is made-to-last and built for purpose since 1922, when our ever-popular bib-overall was launched. That is the moment The Dickies workwear evolution began, and a 100-year legacy was in the making. But enough of the Ted Talk; even if you don't have the Dickies history ready to reel off at a whim, chances are you've seen our logo being worn; you know it's been around for years, and you know that's not without good reason.

During World War II, Williamson-Dickie was sequestered to produce uniforms for the US armed forces,

Strength in Numbers

Whether you're cutting your teeth as an apprentice and looking for your first set of Overalls or a master craftsman with decades under your belt and are looking for longevity, you need to have confidence in the gear you're wearing. You buy Dickies workwear because of the reassurance of the millions of tradespeople and professionals who preceded you.

We’re really proud of our product offering, and it's thanks to this that we appeal to a range of industries with an enviable reputation for reliability and durability. Building & Construction workers come to us because they need to protect their heads, hands and feet whilst being highly visible on-site. What about the Farming and Agriculture industries? They will face all the seasons and all the elements, call it an occupational hazard. So, insulated layers, waterproof outerwear, and moisture-wicking apparel are a high priority for those men and women. Landscaping & Gardening has its own requirements, too: Work Boots for heavy-duty landscaping and coveralls are a go-to for landscapers and horticulturists alike. And not forgetting the tradespeople, the folks who ensure all the others can go about their jobs, come rain or shine, inside or outside. They often make the broadest use of our range too. With Electricians partial to well-equipped trousers and shorts to hold all of their tools and bits and Plumbers eager to protect their knees as they squeeze into the most awkward spots go for pieces like the Everyday Trouser, which is compatible with removable knee pads. One trait many of our customers share is an expectation of structure; they know what they need and how they want it to fit, feel, and perform. We’re happy to help

Ahead of the curve

We keep moving forward, making new developments, expanding our range, introducing new technologies and giving our customers better value. That's Dickies’ heritage. Technologies have always been high on the agenda because we know there's more to workwear than just toughness. Our Advanced Weatherproof Technology (AWT) was a big moment, putting waterproofing, wind protection and breathability features in the spotlight. Tech is all well and good, but we’ll never do that at the expense of comfort, which is why Dickies FLEX is such an essential fabric for us. It's engineered for advanced mobility, superior fit and comfort, which can sustain a tough day's work. FLEX comes into its own across our trouser range. If AWT was a pivotal moment for the wet and windy days, Dickies Temp-iQ™ was a game-changer for hot days. The idea is simple, temperature control workwear that prevents you from overheating. It uses wicking technology that retains cool air in its yarns while moving moisture away from your skin. How does that work, you ask? Water-loving (hydrophilic) and water-repelling (hydrophobic) fabrics combine to push the different fibers and move sweat through the material and to its surface, where it then evaporates.

The Extreme Short uses Dickies Temp-iQ™ to keep you cool and dry when you're active at work.

They look great

Functionality will always remain the key decision to make when buying workwear. Still, as we stand here today in our workshops, construction yards, farms, and gardens, it would be inaccurate to say that we weren't living in a more style-conscious time than that of the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company a hundred years ago. Sure, some people couldn't care less, but for many, it isn't good enough to just do the job; it needs to look the part as well. Luckily for those people, we make apparel that looks just as good off-site as it does on it. Take the Holster Universal FLEX trouser as a great example of a highly technical trouser consisting of various pockets, loops, reinforced knees and reflective tape that still manages to look sleek and understated. Our Portland Shirts are iconic, padded for warmth and fleece-lined for comfort, they’re timeless. The Redhawk Coverall is the definition of versatile, adopted by everyone from construction workers and painters to plumbers and farmers.

There's a good reason that workwear styles, our styles, have inspired the fashion world and created trends like Tech Utility in recent years, and nobody does that better than us. Take our work pants as an example, you’ll find these onsite, at the skate park and on the high street.

Effortlessly stylish in the red Portland Shirt.

We’ve got you

Our history speaks for itself, millions of people back us, and we’ll keep evolving in line with the needs of the contemporary worker. Thanks to all the workers that have supported us in the past, we look forward to keeping you looking and feeling good at work.
