This weekend will see Dickies representatives Paul Hewitt owner of Black L’Amour Barbers in Brighton and Brad Cowan owner of Harry Blades and Angry Dave’s and Epicly Tapered Barbershop in Bristol join forces again for the 6th year running to bring the Barberlife Expo to the Brighton Tattoo Convention. The two of them will be showcasing traditional barbering and classic haircuts and barbering services as well as modern trends with the help of their peers and friends who they have invited to attend who have come from as far away as Singapore, Greece, Israel, the USA, the Czech Republic, Italy, France and across the U.K.
Unlike a lot of other industry events the aim of this event is to share ideas, techniques, and war stories in a fully functional 12 section barbershop within the convention. As both of the guys struggled with the corporate formalities of other hair events they decided to put on their own within a like minded environment and event as the traditions of barbering have always been intertwined with the tattoo culture and fraternity. In tandem with Dickies the guys have always championed traditional values with craftsmanship and the heritage of their industry at the forefront rather than mass produced trends sold en mass by corporate chains.
For anyone that hasn’t experienced the Brighton Tattoo Convention it is a must, and as it is in its 10th year this year the show will not be one to miss. As well as tattooists from all over the world making their mark on people and all the guys participating in the Barberlife Expo there will also be classic cars and bikes on show, retail and entertainment for the whole weekend (see link below).
